Impact Statement
As an impact investment fund, DEI is a central tenant of our investment underwriting process. To date, 57% of Arctaris’s investments in operating companies have been to minority-owned businesses, and we prioritize minority-owned businesses, MBE certified, minority-run developers, and place-based investment programs in communities with high concentrations of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
Through our Debt and Equity/Opportunity Zone investments, we focus on there core strategies:
-Operating companies: Private equity investments in manufacturing, business services, consumer, and healthcare companies.
-Infrastructure: Broadband fiber and renewable energy
-Real Estate: Affordable and workforce housing, transformative community projects, and real estate tied to operating company investments.
Arctaris Impact Investors, LLC is a Boston- Based Impact investment firm with experience spanning 13+ years and 7 private funds, with both debt and Opportunity Zone equity investments. The firm manages funds that invest in growth-oriented operating businesses and community infrastructure projects located in underserved communities.
Founded in 2009, Arctaris has partnered with the Kresge Foundation, Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter’s Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, and multiple other foundations, and federal and state government agencies to invest in Opportunity Zones, inner cities, and targeted rural communities throughout the U.S., with the aim of delivering above-market investment returns alongside positive social impact.
For each potential investment, we consider the positive and negative externalities of the business or project at hand and develop a comprehensive assessment of how an investment will solve for community needs.

After investing, Arctaris is committed to supporting and growing our portfolio companies, helping them improve the communities in which they operate. This includes driving value-creation and impact initiatives, developing long-term strategic plans, and improving the valuation before securing profitable exits.

Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers
For more than a decade, Arctaris has partnered with and funded local and national developers of transformative real estate and infrastructure. Over that time, we have invested over $85M of equity into real estate development projects (catalyzing over $1.1B in projects). We’ve also partnered with ISPs, governments, and other entities to build broadband fiber networks to underserved communities and cleaner energy to the grid.
